Pete Doherty Banned From Driving... Again

Pete DohertyFew people would ever tell you they think it's a good idea to let Pete Doherty get behind the wheel but now, according to media reports, the British authorities have taken away that option altogether. On Thursday, Doherty was officially banned from driving a vehicle for one year. Adding insult to injury -- or, rather, penalty to justice -- he's been slapped with a fine that's roughly equivalent to $750.

The thing is, Doherty is already serving an 18-month driving ban that he was handed last December for driving under the influence. The BBC reports that the two bans will run concurrently and Doherty will be allowed to reapply for a license after the longer of the two bans has expired.

The violation this time? Doherty plead guilty to allowing his manager, Andrew Boyd, use his car without having proper insurance. In related news, Boyd is currently serving a year-long jail term for a hit-and-run that happened while driving Doherty's car.

Oh and by the way -- happy birthday, Pete. The Babyshambles frontman turns 31 on Friday.

here we go again. Why is it that rich people think they are above the law...If that was any one else he would be in jail for two years....I say take away his driving for life......That would send a message to all rich punks out there...

Doherty is a talented musician, but he is a walking disaster. A male version of Amy Winehouse.

i know in america...MADD along with NHTSA..are getting outta hand with their version of justice with these DUI'S..their laws have been proven incorrect by the GAO and they are now funded with tax dollars...these organizations have been arresting/jailing innocent people all over america, ruining their lives, just so they can become rich..!..they have been quietly and arbitrarily enacting laws and they need to be stopped....they have changed their whole format, they are now fighting to bring back prohibition..!..if you enjoy alcoholic beverages and you are tired of seeing innocent people having their lives ruined these organizations...then you have to fight back and let your legislators know that your not going to take it..!..if you want he full story about ...MADD and NHTSA...go to ; motorists(dot)org ; it's free you have search around in there...thank you.

Well it depends on who you lend things to. Also sometimes it's nice to lend someone something without expecting anything in return. It actually makes you feel human.

You must have been on the receiving end of the loan or...lol...gift.

Barbara, One does not "loan" money. The correct form of the verb, is "lend". What you gave, and the lucky person received, is a loan (noun).
