This year's Bestival is to close in raucous fashion as the Prodigy are to headline its Sunday line-up this September. Also just announced for the Isle of Wight festival are Bob Marley's former backing band the Wailers, Cumbria's Wild Beasts and pop veteran Howard Jones. Sting's daughter, who performs as I Blame Coco, is set to perform, while a DJ set is promised from La Roux and Dead Guy.
Festival organiser Rob Da Bank predicted that this would be the Prodigy's last UK appearance for some time. "Since raving as a young pup to 'Charly' and 'Out of Space' through to caning their new record on my radio show, the Prodigy have been a massive part of my record collection," he said. "As far as polishing off the party on Sunday night I can't think of a more explosive finale and it's gonna be the last we'll see of them for quite a while on our shores."
The Essex ravers closed an Australian tour on Thursday night (March 11), then next month head out on a European jaunt before returning to the UK to play the V and T in the Park festivals along with a show at Milton Keynes Bowl.
Bestival takes place at Robin Hill Country Park, from Sept. 9-12. Its packed line up boasts Flaming Lips, Hot Chip, Dizzee Rascal, Roxy Music and Gil Scott-Heron, with exclusive sets from the XX and Fever Ray.
