SXSW's Interactive Festival kicked off today, and our friends from Urlesque are in full effect down in Austin, Texas. But at Spinner HQ, it's all about the music. We're making our way through the SXSW 2010 lineup, so if you're still sorting out yours, check out some more of our favorites.

Michael Wayne Atha, also known as the rapper Yelawolf, was born in Gadsen Alabama, thirty miles north of the famed Talladega Superspeedway racetrack. He grew up on a steady diet of hip hop and skateboarding, and turned to music full time after a series of injuries shut the door on his professional boarding career.

Deer Tick might hail from Providence, R.I., but the band's musical roots, aesthetically speaking, are in the rural South. This neo-hillbilly band fills in some gaps between roots rock and country, but is inclined to toss off a Sex Pistols song note for note at whim, too.

Sweet Apple SXSW 2010 Interview
To call Sweet Apple another J. Mascis sideband doesn't come close to fully describing what's going on. The Dinosaur Jr. guitarist and co-singer might be the band's biggest name, but Mascis mostly sits back in his original role of drummer on this one, adding guitar and vox here and there.
