Johnny Depp is set to feature on the forthcoming soundtrack to the first-ever Doors documentary film 'When You're Strange: A Film About the Doors.' The Hollywood actor -- who narrates the film -- will also appear on the album reading verses from 15 of Jim Morrison's poems. The soundtrack to the film written and directed by Tom DeCillo is also to feature 13 of the Doors greatest hits, taken from their six albums, and will be released in the UK on April 6, three days before the film is released.
Speaking about his role as narrator, Depp says in a press release, "Watching the hypnotic, hitherto unreleased footage of Jim, John, Ray and Robby, I felt like I experienced it all through their eyes. As a rock 'n' roll documentary, or any kind of documentary for that matter, it simply doesn't get any better than this. What an honour to have been involved. I am as proud of this as anything I have ever done."
The film charts the band from their formation at UCLA in 1965 to Morrison's death in 1971, with footage shot at the time, some of which has never previously been seen.
