Brahms Interview: SXSW 2010

Brahms the band formed in January 2010, but the group is full of promise. Listen to the band's "Subtext Is Deadly" and you'll be dancing soon. Eric Lyle Lodwick, Michael Cale Parks and Drew Montag Robinson are making their way towards Austin and SXSW as we speak. Concise and to the point, Spinner caught up with Cale Parks on the road. Cale won't give up his mobile number from the area code 513 -- he forever reps Cincinnati. How did you get started?
We formed in January. We change each time we write a song together.
How did you come up with your band name?
Found prestige in a dead man.
What are your musical influences?
Chuck Berry, the Unicorns, New Order.
Describe your sound in your own words.
Slinky, slivery dance pop music.
What is and who picks the music you listen to on the road while on tour?
We haven't been on tour yet. We'll see what pops up on the drive down to SXSW.
What's your musical guilty pleasure? What's hiding on the iPod?

Have you played at SXSW before? And what is your Festival Survival Kit?
We have not played SXSW as a band.Wet Naps and black tube socks are in our kit.
How many shows are you playing SXSW week? Will you be checking out other bands that week and if so who are you excited to see?
At the moment, we're playing 4 shows. I think we're generally excited to be in the sunshine more than anything. I'm sure our minds will be blown by many bands while we're down there.
What's the craziest thing you've experienced on tour?
We'll let you know when the crazy comes.
