Scott Weiland Blames Wives For Velvet Revolver Split, Still Drinks
- Posted on Mar 16th 2010 11:00AM by John D. Luerssen
Behind every man is a good woman, but behind every band? Maybe not. Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland blames the collapse of Velvet Revolver on the band's significant others and bitter envy."Everyone was a rock star," Weiland said in a new interview with Details. "There were petty jealousies. Then the wives got involved with the business of the band, and that was the beginning of the downfall."
"When Velvet Revolver first got together it was great," he added. "We had all been through the same experiences, and it felt like a gang" The band came together when Weiland met bassist Duff McKagan at the gym. He also says he had spent time in rehab with ex-Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum and had previously met the band's guitarist Slash.
As for STP, whose self-titled comeback record is due in May, Weiland says that everyone in the group is clean, at least from the hard stuff. "No one does drugs anymore," he explained, "I still drink ... I can have a scotch and not want to shoot up." Meanwhile, a portion of the band's new single, 'Between the Lines,' can be heard at Below Empty.

Please. some of the wives were crazy (slashs and scotts)-they were very over controlling and over involved at times, am sure- duffs wife and sorums gf are extremely normal and sweet. anyone in the 3 degrees of seperation in the industry knows this! and scott should not throw innocent cool people under the bus-because it makes him look cowardly, and is a way to make an excuse for his selfish actions with the band (being constantly innebriated or late for shows, etc) during VR.

Today I know what I want and where my limitations are, it only took me 40 years. So I have been where you are. Keep up the good work

Though not 100% they are often true: Drummers are often considered boorish knuckleheads, guitarists are often reclusive control freaks, and front men are self destructive egotistic show offs. Weiland is doing his part to keep up. The sad fact is, we fans are most responsible for driving this. We demand and applaud our musical tragedies.

"Aye but if he were every bit o'the man he really was supposed to've been, 'stead 'o the shadow o'the man he thinks he really is." Tam O'Shanter
March 17 2010 at 1:39 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyBoy, some of you people are just so far beyond stupid and pathetic it's unreal (i.e. Cathy Stratton)! So most of you are praising a guy who has done drugs and drinks and blames women for the band's supposed downfall. Did it ever occur to you supposed supporters that this is his way of avoiding blame for his own failings? If all you supporters are so perfect like you're claiming to be then I hate to see the lies you tell your own family and friends when you screw up! And Cathy dear, if you're such an 'honest woman' as you so claim, stick a rock in it! Hate to tell you this but there are honest men and women who are supportive of their band spouses and honest men and women supportive of their spouses in general! Before you shoot off your mouth again, here's a clue-RESEARCH!
March 17 2010 at 1:25 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWell seeing as how none of us were there to know exactly why both bands broke up.. I tend to lean more towards what Scott says.. HE WAS THERE. And as far as his drug addiction goes yeah he had one. And if dude wants to throw back some scotch well let him. It's better then rolling his sleeve up and sticking a needle in it. None of us have lived his life so no one should judge.
