Circle-Pitting to Keep Warm at SXSW 2010

The weather took a severe turn in Austin on the Saturday of SXSW 2010. Unprepared festival-goers wandered the streets in a bitter daze. However, many of us found solace in the F----- Up show at The Mess with Texas Party. The unrelenting chill did not go unnoticed by the Canadian band, but front man Damian Abraham still disrobed himself in true hardcore punk fashion. If the sight of his sheer girth and body hair didn't warm our hearts enough, then the clamor of angst-riddled fans violently flopping themselves against one another sure did.With a little twirl of his finger, Abraham got most of the crowd riled into a circle pit. Having never thought I would get a kick out of such shenanigans, I found myself thoroughly enjoying the experience. It's amazing how cold weather can bring many worlds together.
