Fab-Four-String Bliss at SXSW 2010

Don Ho meets Lucy in the Sky? Imagine a two-day Beatles' tribute that covers every Fab Four song. Now picture that tribute infused with the sounds of the ukulele. That's what many SXSW 2010 fans experienced March 17 and 18, at Jaime's Spanish Village courtyard during the Beatles Complete on Ukulele Festival
More than 50 musicians took turns with Beatles covers, backed by the Eggmen, Austin's renowned Beatles' tribute band. The event was organized by Roger Greenawalt and was the third Beatles Complete on Ukulele Festival.
Inspired playing, legendary songs and a fun, quirky instrument that's growing in popularity -- this tribute may have won fans for the band and the ukulele, or at least provided those of us who grew up with the Beatles an opportunity to take a fresh listen of some old favorites.
