The Pipes Were Playin' at SXSW 2010

So on the Saturday afternoon of SXSW I'm standing on Red River, having just left Bull McCabe's oddly enough, and suddenly I hear what sounds like bagpipes in the distance.Out of the corner of my eye I see two kilt-wearing men walking down Red River playing bagpipes. I'm like, is this for real? It was. Everyone turns and looks to witness this (even by SXSW standards) somewhat surreal scene. The two men stopped near the barricades for a few minutes and played for an increasingly growing crowd of punks, hipsters, metalheads and assorted laminate-wearing types.Just as quickly as it began, they finished, posed for a few photos and continued marching onwards. It reminded me that during SXSW music truly is everywhere, and often something happens so quickly, that you could blink and miss it.
