Blur Guitarist Graham Coxon Has Dream About US Impotence

Blur guitarist Graham Coxon has spoken out about his fantasy for the US to have "no importance in the world" as part of a new impropmtu political video for politics and culture guerilla group Instigate Debate.Speaking as part of an interview titled 'Instigate Debate Presents Peter and Graham' -- alongside former Libertines and Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty -- Coxon declared, "Part of me wants to kind of clear America like an old overgrown field that needs the stubble burning and start again. Just keep the nice Americans somewhere while we do it. I think there will be a lot less oxygen being used, a lot less greenhouse gases."
Coxon explains himself, controversially saying, "That's my little dream fantasy, that they have no importance in the world. They're not some sort of power, they think they're policing the world -- and we can actually get back to how it used to be when us and Persia were good mates."
The guitarist also answers a variety of debate questions, including one about '70% of British land being owned by 1% of British people."
Doherty, who joins in the video discussion, talks about 'perverse' media monopolies, saying, "Why would anyone want to own all that? It's a bit perverse." He adds, "Writing shit about me and my house, saying I've got a smelly house -- which I do -- it's my business. Why don't you use the money for some cleaners and solve the problem?"
You can watch the 'Peter and Graham' video in two parts, here and here.
Previous participants in the last minute video discussions for Instigate Debate include Reverend and the Makers Jon McCLure, ex-Libertine-turned-solo artist Carl Barat and activist Mark Donne. The collective encourage people to ask 'questions of the day' to political and cultural figures and upload their answers to the ID website.
A live discussion along with live music will take place for Instigate Debate on April 26 at London's Islington Union Chapel.
