Suede Perform for First Time in Seven Years
- Posted on Mar 22nd 2010 6:30AM by Matt Glazebrook
Suede returned to flouncing live action for the first time in seven years on Sunday night (March 21). The reconstituted five-piece -- singer Brett Anderson, guitarist Richard Oakes (a mid-career replacement for founder Bernard Butler), bassist Mat Osman, keyboard player Neil Codling and drummer Simon Gilbert -- played a small show at London's sold-out 100 Club. The gig was a warm-up for the band's Wednesday night (March 24) Teenage Cancer Trust charity gig at the Royal Albert Hall.A career-spanning set kicked with three tunes from 1996's 'Coming Up' ('She,' 'Trash' and 'Filmstar') before debut disc 'Suede' got a shout out via classic single 'Animal Nitrate.'
At one point Anderson stripped things down and played solo acoustic versions of 'Stay Together" and 'The Living Dead.'
Later on the singer offered some gushing thanks to the 100 Club crowd. "All I have to say is I loved playing tonight," he said. "It's been beautiful. Lets do it again in another seven years time."
Full set list was:
'She'
'Trash'

'Animal Nitrate'
'Heroine'
'Pantomime Horse'
