Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong Says Bisexuality Shouldn't Be an Issue
- Posted on Mar 25th 2010 11:00AM by John D. Luerssen
After all these years, Billie Joe Armstrong is still answering questions about his sexuality, most recently in a new interview with Out magazine. The Green Day frontman -- who has been married since the mid '90s and once said, "I think I've always been bisexual ... It's a beautiful thing" -- feels his preferences should make no difference to the group's loyal followers."The fact that it is an issue is kind of phobic within itself. At some point ... this should be something that's just accepted," Armstrong explained to the popular gay publication. "I don't really classify myself as anything. And when it comes to sex, there are parts of me that are very shy and conservative. I want to respect my wife."
Armstrong, also said, "My wife Googled 'Billie Joe Armstrong bisexual' [and] she's like, 'Yeah, there are about 20 pictures of you kissing different guys.'"
In other Green Day news, the band recently revealed that they had begun work on demos for their next studio album. On top of that, their musical version of 'American Idiot,' which is set to hit Broadway next month, may be optioned into a film by Tom Hanks.

*sigh* Have ANY of you ever seen a Green Day concert? Billie always brings kids up on the stage to let them play a song with the band, and it's very common for both the guys and girls who get picked to give him a kiss before they return to the audience. That's where these pictures are coming from. The man wears his wedding ring 24-7, and is very clear about the fact that he is monogamous.
Admitting that you recognize these feelings within yourself, and acting on those feelings, are two entirely different things. You'd think people would have some respect for his honesty, but that queer fear is just too strong, I guess.
i think its perfectly fine what should people care as long as he's married to a woman i would still like him if he was with a guy or something i wouldnt care we're all human it's not our choice if it happens

In that case, it was part of the performance, not private and intimate contact with people other than his spouse. There's nothing to suggest that Billie Joe has ever cheated on his wife.
Oh, and being gay or bi is not a choice.
As soon as all of you "christians" start stoning women for adultery and advocating slavery. I will take you seriously. And don't forget to picket Red Lobster.
But no it's just easier to be hateful and attack us gays who do nothing to warrant such meanness. Gotta love cafeteria cherry pickin "good christians" WTF EVAH
We are never going back into the closet. Some people are GAY. If you can't get over it stay under your rocks.
Intelligent people won't miss you.
Did anyone say for sure he was cheating, or were these pictures of him kissing guys taken before he was married? And is it just me, or does anyone else think Bill and Di and their type are perverted, sickening, and biologically wrong? There is for sure something wrong with their hearts, and probably their heads too.

December 05 2012 at 9:52 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhen people have a problem with some new tidbit of information about a celebrity, they comment that he or she (in this case a musician) should just create music/be in movies/etc. and not put the rest of their lives on display.
Right... if people really felt that way about all celebrity info, then why are they reading blogs like this, buying tabloids, etc. Quit seeking the information if you are just going to say you "didn't wanna know."
This has been public knowledge for years, what's the big deal? Oh yah, you christians can return to your ivory towers and molest a child!
March 26 2010 at 11:29 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySome Christians may be simple minded, but at least they have minds that work the right way. We aren't afraid, you are hetero-phobic. Phobia means fearful of something and you insist on tagging people with that out of your own fears and twisted thoughts any time someone speaks out for things decent and morale, so that your immorality can make you feel okay about yourself. If anyone is pushing their view on others it would be you. There is a God and you aren't Him. So stop judging Christians.

For those that are losing respect because of supposed infidelity -- I think the pictures he refers to are pre-marriage. Also, how long will it take until people start accepting others choices? As for so-called Christians commenting on this -- who was it who said not to judge -- and not to throw stones, let's see....oh. Jesus maybe?? Shouldn't we leave all the judging to God?
