Will Oldham has added vocals to a new version of Hot Chip's forthcoming single 'I Feel Better.'Riffing on Oldham's alter ego Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, the band are streaming the house mix of the track online as 'I Feel Bonnie.'
This version is set to be released as part of a 12-inch remix package that also features Richard X, Den Haan and Ill Blu. Moreover, the band are pressing a limited edition of 1000 seven-inch singles for UK Record Store Day on April 17.
This will be the only way fans can get hold of the single mix of 'I Feel Bonnie,' backed by brand new track 'Bear Witness' and sold in vintage Parlophone paper wrapping with a jukebox-sized centre hole.
And Hot Chip have worked before with a singer to rival Oldham for enigmatic brooding. In 2008, they released an EP that featured reworkings of tracks from previous album 'Made in the Dark' with vocals from Robert Wyatt.
As previously reported on Spinner, Hot Chip are due to tour the US in April, but before that have lined up an appearance on Later with Jools Holland to be screened April 13 and 16. Taken from Hot Chip's current album 'One Life Stand,' the single 'I Feel Better' is released April 19. Bonnie 'Prince' Billy releases his own album 'The Wonder Show of the World' on March 29.
