Before that news even became official, rumors began to surface that Jane's Addiction would soldier onwards with replacement bassist Duff McKagan who, of course, was a founding member of both Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver. Rolling Stone corroborated the rumor when they quoted Slash -- his mate in both those bands -- as saying that he thought McKagan was busy "doing something with Jane's Addiction."
And now, as pointed out by Rolling Stone, even without a formal announcement, at least one of McKagan's new bandmates has apparently confirmed the development. Taking to Twitter -- as he does multiple times a day -- guitarist Dave Navarro posted a photo of his band, apparently playing music, with McKagan unmistakably on bass. Check it. His caption? "Another day of writing and creating in the studio with Jane's Addiction."
Jane's Addiction has reunited several times since they first disbanded in 1991. It wasn't until 2008 that Avery returned to the fold; before then, the other three founding members were joined by several high-profile bassists including, most notably, Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) in 1997. At the time, Navarro was also a Red Hot Chili Pepper.
All told, we look forward to hearing this latest, promising version of Jane's Addiction. In the meantime, other revealing tweets from Navarro on Tuesday included "Overcast! :)" and "Love & Rockets this morning? NO! Bauhaus? YES, please..."
