To mark their tenth birthday, Wichita Recordings have announced a series of special shows and a number of limited-edition vinyl releases. To coincide with Record Store Day on April 17, the London-based indie label will officially release, for the first time on vinyl in Europe, Bright Eyes' 'Fever and Mirrors' (Wichita's maiden release) and the Cribs' self-titled debut.
The latter comes complete with a CD of original demos. Also set to be released are re-pressings of Bloc Party's 'Silent Alarm', which includes bonus seven-inch 'Little Thoughts' b/w 'Storm and Stress,' and 'Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release,' by Simian Mobile Disco.
Limited to 1,000 copies, each LP comes on heavyweight vinyl.
A week of gigs in London is planned for July, with details to be announced soon, but in the meantime three birthday shows have been confirmed. Part of the Great Escape and Stagger and Dagger festivals respectively, Peggy Sue, Sky Larkin, Gold Panda and Dam Mantle will appear at Life in Brighton on May 14, while the lineup for London on May 21 includes Sky Larkin, Frankie and the Heartstrings, Cold Pumas and Dam Mantle.
Los Campesinos!, First Aid Kit and Peggy Sue will also play at Barcelona's Primavera festival, which is also hosting a Wichita anniversary party on May 26.
