Dead Weather Release Video for 'Die by the Drop'

We know Jack White likes to keep things old-school, but in the video for the Dead Weather's newest single 'Die by the Drop,' it feels as if he's going medieval. White reteamed with 'Runaways' director Flora Sigismondi, who directed the White Stripes video for 'Blue Orchid,' to create this dark, disturbing clip. Of the various spooky images, one of the creepiest is vocalist Alison Mosshart staring White down with some bizarre eye makeup.Gone are shots of the band paying traditional instruments in favor of an intense interplay between Jack and Alison. More than anything on the group's debut album, 'Horehound,' 'Die by the Drop' has significant vocal contributions from White throughout the song. It's not necessarily a duet, but White mostly echoes Alison's sentiments that "some people die just a little, some people die by the drop." The rather dark video features several shots of Mosshart and White sitting in a big leather chair, their heads eventually morphing into the other's body to symbolize, well, something.
As previously reported, 'Sea of Cowards' is out May 11 on Third Man Records and is the Dead Weather's second album in a year. The band kicks off a club and festival tour with two nights at San Francisco's Fillmore on April 15, and appearances at Coachella, the New Orleans Jazz Fest and Bonnaroo are all on tap.
