Devo, 'What We Do' -- Song Premiere

The name Devo may be short for "de-evolution," but a reunited, rejuvenated Devo are doing anything but devolving right now. As a matter of fact, it looks like things are actually going in the other direction at Devo Inc. First their iconic Energy Domes (yeah, those red, pyramid-like hats) got a makeover. So did their entire uniforms, actually. That's a form of evolution, you know. Also riding the tides of the times: Devo is about to make use of the uniquely modern tool known as crowd-sourcing.
The band is enlisting any and every willing listener to participate in a "song study" that will "scientifically" decide which 12 songs out of a bigger batch of 16 will make it on their upcoming album. You can get a head start by listening to the following two tracks. In typical Devo fashion, they're a paradoxical pair -- one, 'Fresh,' appears to make an argument for something new and improved while the other, 'What We Do,' claims that "It's all the same/there's nothing new."
Well, which one is it? Devo obviously can't decide, which is why they're asking you. Seems like it's a brave new world out there for the men who are not men, but who are, in fact, Devo. Check out the songs below.

Fresh for me is by far the better of the 2 tracks,maybe that's because it sounds more "authentically" DEVO.
Maybe it just proves that I'm gettin' old and stuck in my ways and want my favourite band to stay true to my nostalgic memories?

I always have a hard time with new music especially from a favorite band. I gave this 3 listens and I'm stoked. It's Devo flavored all the way through. Even sneaking in a little Bob1 talk vocals a la Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA. I can already see me chanting "eating and breathin' and pumpin' gas, cheeseburger cheeseburger do it again" at a live show. Going for 4. Devo, it has been too long.

Fresh is indeed a great song, but What We Do is SOOOOO Devo. I hope people see this as the brilliant update of the sound and vision that they really needed to express.
