'The Places Between: Best of Doves' is a multi-format celebration of the Doves' incredibly successful 12-year career adding a plethora of rarities and B-sides, while also featuring brand new material pointing to the trio's future.Spinner brings you part two of an exclusive documentary, this time focusing on the era of their second album, the chart-topping 'The Last Broadcast.'
Guitarist Jez Williams explains how much more confident the band felt after their debut 'Lost Souls' was such a success. "It was like a big burst of energy" he enthuses over candid video footage of the band on tour. "It affected our songwriting. We wanted it to be more optimistic, more hopeful."
He reveals album's third single, 'Caught By the Rive,r' was written unintentionally. Recording in Stockport, Lancashire, the track just appeared after a two-day writing session for a different song which was shelved. "It was one of those songs which just writes itself," explains Williams.
