Garbage's Shirley Manson Returning to Music

Shirley Manson has changed her mind about quitting music. The Garbage frontwoman announced she was leaving her musical pursuits behind for an acting career in 2009, but she now says that the death of a six-year-old boy prompted her to reconsider reviving her music career."There is talk about doing my own record, reforming with Garbage and a short film too," Manson told the Daily Record. "Whether it will all come off, I don't know. I've learned that I need to take it one day at a time."
Manson quit music after her mother's passing from dementia and her role on Fox's 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' wore her out. It was the tragic death of a friend's young son from cancer that reminded her of the importance of music -- Jeff Castelaz, who owns Dangerbird Records, asked Manson to sing his child Pablo's favorite song, David Bowie's 'Life on Mars,' at the memorial service.
"We were all in so much pain but it meant so much to them that I could sing that song and it meant so much to me that I was able to do something," Manson said. "It made me realize how much music sustains people. I don't know why I turned my back on it."

such a tradegy cancer is,my mothers friend died recently from cancer and it gets hard but we all must live with what happens and move on.Shirley manson is truly a good spirited woman and i hope only the best for u and yours.

sometimes is good for all have a little break from hard work, sometimes we really want to give more than the audience is specting... and thats stressfull and mind breaking. so, get some space, time for other interest, projects or just have a pretty good rest or vacation. and then all the energy appears. cranberries is on tour, roxette and cardigans also is working in a new album... its a great opportunity to look to other frontiers

Why are you bothering to post if you know nothing about the person or subject matter of this article? Actually, it's rather sad that you are so ignorant in the field of music. My children (ages 8 & 11), my wife's family (who generally listen to country), and my mther (80 years old!), as well as my friends, all know who Shirley is and love her dearly. Practically everybody in the world knows who she is,........except you. The question should be "Who is Alice F.?" because NOBODY knows nor cares anything about her. Post what you know, not what you don't. Have a nice day. As for Shirley, We wish you only the best.

You are not seeing the entire picture. Sometimes it takes a jolt to your everyday life to realize you are on the wrong path. For her it was the death of this child and the realization of what her music meant to that family. What is not to understand?

Of course it's horrifying when a child dies, my bet is this is just an excuse to try and revive some kind of career after her acting thing wasn't going as planned. What IS the logic? Because some one died, she wants to get back with her has-been band? That's like saying, "I'm going to eat an apple because my niehbor's shoe lace broke." --no logic in it at all. AOL is constantly feeding us B.S. By the way, she's ugly.
