Jack Bruce Says Cream Will Not Play Again

Despite a Cream reunion five years ago, Jack Bruce has dismissed any chance of any new shows and has said that the Cream story "is over," the bassist told BBC 6 Music.Bruce was talking about his new autobiography, 'Composing Himself.' The legendary Eric Clapton-fronted blues rockers re-formed in 2005 for a series of live shows after splitting in 1968, but Bruce has said that the arguments and disagreements from back in their heyday were still present during the reunion.
He said, "There was one argument where I misremembered the phrasing of one of the songs. Ginger [Baker, drummer] said 'You've got that wrong', and I said 'No I haven't.' He did say that his conflict resolution was a little better than back in the '60s, though, adding, "I thought about it and realised he was right and I apologised, so everything was all right."
But Bruce has stressed the band won't play together again, saying, "There's a new story now -- Cream is over."
Elsewhere, he talked about the band's splitting more than 40 years ago, saying it had "become a myth and a legend. I think that with lots of rock bands that if you're sitting in a van or on a plane, you kind of disagree a bit."
Though he remains firm on the Cream issue, Bruce also explained there is a new musical project on the horizon and it's something we'll have to stay tuned for. "I'm doing something very exciting – so much so I can't even talk about it. It's the most exciting project I've ever been involved in."
