Keane to Play 'Club' Gigs in UK and Ireland
- Posted on Apr 12th 2010 7:25AM by Julian Marszalek
What's your definition of a club gig? A tightly packed venue of say, 400 other souls so excited that the sweat actually drips from the ceiling and onto your head? Or maybe you'd consider a show at a 1,300-capacity venue to be a club gig if superclubs were the only ones that you go out dancing to?One band's intimate venue is another's career peak, it seems. Keane are to punctuate their summer UK forest tour with a series of club dates at London's Roundhouse, Birmingham's Academy, Barrowlands in Glasgow and the Olympia in Dublin.
Keyboard player Tim Rice-Oxley said in statement, "The forest shows we're playing in June will be big, glorious singalongs, but we wanted to play some more sweaty and intimate gigs along the way.
"We figured out the other day that we haven't played in Birmingham since February 2007. Birmingham was one of the first cities to really embrace Keane -- in fact, we think it was the scene of our first sold-out show -- so it's about time we got back there."
Tickets for the new shows go on sale on Wednesday, April 14 at 9.30AM BST via Keane's Web site. The dates for the band's club gigs are:
London Roundhouse, England (June 15)
Birmingham Academy, England (June 16)
Glasgow Barrowlands, Scotland (June 21)
Dublin Olympia, Ireland (June 23)

Keane is a very talented band from England. Think Coldplay but different. Great vocals, innovative melodies. Not everydbody's cup of tea. But,then again, who is?

The gig is going great, thanks!! Much better than yours as head fry cook at Burger King, I'm sure.
Obviously most of those who have already posted here are musically illiterate or just have bad taste. Keane are a remarkable band......look them up on YouTube or check out their music for yourselves before you go and critize them. And if you don't like them, keep it to yourselves.....the rest of us who do don't care what you think, anyway.

Let me guess, they are one of those bands that got their music noticed because it was used as background music for a commercial, otherwise no one outside of a 50 person capacity hole in the wall club in the red light district would know who the hell they are?
How is your gig as the bands manager going any way?
I thought they said "rockers"! I just wasted another 2 minutes of my life for nothing...
