Blur have been urged by the boss of their record label to come up with a new album. Parlophone head Miles Leonard, in an interview with BBC 6 Music, described their new track 'Fool's Day' as an "absolutely wonderful summer tune" and said the band "sound as competent and as strong as they've ever sounded before."Blur will release two new songs on limited edition seven-inch vinyl on Saturday April 17's Record Store Day, the first new material from Albarn and co. since 2003, and the first with guitarist Graham Coxon on board since he left the band in 2002. He rejoined the band last year for reunion shows.
Now Leonard hopes their recent projects together will lead to Blur's eighth album, a follow-up to 2003's 'Think Tank.'
"At this point we were just really pleased to hear that they wanted to go in and record this," said Leonard of the new songs, "and who knows, from the reaction to this song, what will come in the future.
"I just hope that from hearing a song like this that the band feel there's more in them. We certainly do as a label, and I'm sure when fans hear this they'll think the same."
