OK, so we all knew that U2, Muse and Stevie Wonder were confirmed as Pyramid Stage headliners at this year's Glastonbury Festival but after months of feverish speculation, the organisers have at last revealed the full line up for the sold-out event. The Other Stage's headliners have been announced as the Flaming Lips (Friday), Pet Shop Boys (Saturday) and Orbital (Sunday) while Groove Armada, Jamie T and Ash will occupy pole position on the John Peel Stage. Over at the relatively new Park Stage, the headliners are set to be the XX, Midlake and Empire of the Sun.
The event also marks the long-awaited return of New York disco darlings Scissor Sisters, who take to the Pyramid Stage for the coveted sunset slot on the Saturday night, while erstwhile Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash will makes his Glastonbury debut in the same stage the following afternoon ahead of Kinks leader Ray Davies.
As in previous years, the Park Stage has reserved spaces for very special unannounced guests which in previous years have included Franz Ferdinand and Babyshambles.
The full line up can be found at the Glastonbury Festival's Web site. Speaking to the site, organiser Michael Eavis said, "This is it. The most staggering line up to match the 40-year reputation of the Festival."
As reported on Spinner, the last remaining tickets for the festival sold out last Sunday, April 10. The Glastonbury Festival will be held at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset from June 25 to 27.
