Paul Weller 'to Marry' Girlfriend
- Posted on Apr 16th 2010 12:30PM by Chris Cottingham
There's life in the old mod yet -- Paul Weller is allegedly getting married. Music News reported on Friday, April 16, that the veteran rocker had proposed to girlfriend Hannah Andrews.Weller met Andrews while she was singing backing vocals on his 2008 No. 1 album '22 Dreams.' She subsequently went on to tour with him. They moved in together after Weller's previous relationship with Samantha Stock, his partner of 13 years, ended just before Christmas 2008.
Weller's spokesperson did not make any comment about the apparently impending nuptials. If wedding bells are indeed on the cards, it wouldn't be the first time Weller has married a fellow musician. In 1988, he wed D.C. Lee, backing singer in the Style Council. They split in 1994.
The former Jam frontman, who will be 52 in May, is undeterred by the 27-year age gap between himself and 24-year-old Andrews.
"It's funny to think that after all these years I've finally met my soulmate. All I can say is that I am very, very much in love," he was quoted on the Web site, adding, "Because she's so much younger than me, [when the press found out it] was all, 'It's a midlife crisis; Wrinkly Rocker; Mutton dressed up as ram; Old enough to be her Modfather.' But it isn't like that. We're really in love and that's that."
Meanwhile, Weller's 10th solo album, 'Wake Up the Nation,' already hailed by Q magazine as "his solo masterpiece," is released on Monday, April 19.

What I enjoy the most about people who have a life is the way it gives people who don't the chance to be judgmental and state their opinions. LOL

All these bitter women saying he's having a mid-life crisis is a bunch of garbage! Why should it be embarrassing for this girl to be with Weller? It is a major compliment! This man has more style and talent than anyone! He's totally famous and has worked hard for it, he can sleep with or love anyone he wants. No one has the right to judge him on who he loves. The man can get anyone he wants, why should he be with some old hag who complains all the time, when he get a beautiful young girl?! Respect the Modfather.

Either of those headlines would have more aptly described this article which, by the way, is not news. Pathetic men with midlife crisis issues and dumb, money-hungry bimbettes do this all the time.
Sorry Jeannie, but you are the one trying to shove your judgemental values down everyone's throat regarding age requirements in all relationships. I on the other hand am saying live and let live. Their relationship is none of our business. If you don't like the relationship, then ignore it. We can spend our time better instead of worrying about someone's age. If they want to be happy being married, then let them be happy.

People hook up for different reasons. She may have alot
of things he's crazy about. Some guys would much rather
date a women their own age. Its just sometimes availablity and depth of character are hard to find. Men are restless creatures. If you can't keep up with their stupid interests, someone else comes along and younger or the same age that will. Maybe his wife or ex girl friend got bored with celebritydome. Daniel
Life is too short not to love. Good luck Paul!

I, too, am 24 and my boyfriends have always been older... and destitute or at least not wealthy. I genuinely care or these men and it is not at all difficult to differentiate between those after youth to boost an ego or tickle a fancy and those interested in my person. I wrote my current boyfriend for eight months before we saw each other again (we met and then stayed in touch) and neither of us had any clear memory of the other's age, nor was it flirtation. We shared ideas long before we shared bodies.

The real question is How come you never see a young chick "In Love" with a poor old man? Maybe if women would stop lying to men, this kind of thing would not happen.

This is one of the crazy things about society, that we pattern ourselves after the most screwed up people's behaviors. Why are some men doing this? a)viagra, b) they believe what they see on TV, c)they don't know how ridiculous it looks.

I surmise you see more of these among the wealthy, the powerful, the celebrities. Most males who are wealthy/powerful/celebrities have enormous egos and tend to be narcissists. If you want a kind, compassionate, loving family oriented man, the numbers are against you if you pick a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, a hedge fund trader, an actor, a professional athelete...etc. The reason for their success is they are DRIVEN to achieve, to excel, to obtain power, and when they become superstars in the media they believe their own press. Depending on their age they get tired of their 40,50 or 60-something wives/partners who've been with them for years. These men want adoration, all attention focused on them, and the status symbols that come with power. A young beautiful woman is a symbol of their success and power. Usually these young women are not eager for self-actualization; they just want someone to take care of them. Not all young women who hook up with an older man do it solely for the money. If they've had daddy issues or no daddy, oftentimes an older man represents security and safety; someone who makes the decisions and asks very little except to look good at all times, be charming, be able to entertain and carry on a conversation. They don't want a "self-actualized" woman who has wants and desires outside of the marriage or partnership. (example: Donald Trump's current wife). She is beautiful, intelligent, charming and her world revolves around The Donald. He dumped Ivana because she wanted power too and to be heavily involved in the business as well. Yes young women are most often attracted to the money, the power, the status that an older, wealthier man can provide. But sometimes it is about the protection, the command.....they marry the daddy they never had. The reasons these partnerships often fail is the young woman matures and she wants more than just being arm candy; her looks may fade, they have children and the children come first. The man stops being the center of her world; he gets tired of carrying the load and moves on again. My dad had a friend who was an airline pilot. This pilot was quite wealthy (from his investments) and handsome, even at 58. His first wife was his age. He dumped her for a woman who was 40. Then he retired and he dumped his second wife for his third wife, who was in her late early 30's (he was in his late 60's). He jumped from someone who was 18 years his junior to one who over 30 years his junior. It happens. These types of guys are lousy husband material for the most part. If you want to be an equal partner in a relationship, run as far and as fast as you can from them. Of course this is an overgeneralization. There are wealthy, powerful men who don't pursue much young women. They can be good husbands and fathers, love their same age wives and stay married for life. But typically their egos are not outsized, and they lack the narcissism and insecurity many of their peers have. There is Jon Bon Jovi, Tom Hanks, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Sir Richard Branston, to name a few. At the moment I cannot think of any superstar athletes that fall into this category. Do these guys have large egos? Yes, but they have a certain value system around family, fidelity and a level of self-confidence that doesn't lead them to seek out young women. AND who cares? If an older man and younger woman get together, what's wrong with that? Or an older woman and younger man? None of us can know the motives and intents of any other human being. So why judge?
My, My. You have much to say. I like that in a person.
Your reply to my first post and similar responses always bring me to examine myself for bitterness and hatred. Bitterness? Sure. Hatred? We love things and we hate things. It is undeniably human to hate as well as love, or even like. What am I hating while I spill my poison? I do not hate humankind. I hate judgment but even I am judging as I write my first words this morning. I love self honesty and I judge you to be correct in your assessment of my judgement of a people as a whole. When all is said and done your final words reveal that we agree on something - live and let live.
