Jay-Z Brings Out Beyonce at Coachella

Opening day of Coachella 2010 was characterized by lots of lines and lots of waiting. So it was sorta expected that Jay-Z wouldn't start exactly on time, but it was almost as if he intentionally added anticipation to the wait leading up to his set: a countdown clock on the video screen ticked down the final ten minutes. Opening up with 'Run This Town,' from his latest, the 'Blueprint 3,' Jay-Z led a field filled mostly with hipsters and indie kids through a hands-in-the-air evening of huge hits and big beats.Rumors had run rampant right up until show time that his set would be augmented by special guests such as Dr. Dre and Drake. Only the usual suspects joined him as he plowed through smashes from '99 Problems' to the more recent 'Empire State of Mind,' the latter of which showcased tour mate Bridget Kelly singing the part that Alicia Keys plays on record. But Jay-Z then surprised -- and thrilled -- fans when he welcomed Beyonce to the stage to sing 'Young Forever.' Given how tough it was to score a ticket outside, looks like Jay-Z found a clever way to land a way in for his lady.
Coachella continues on Saturday with a lineup that's anchored by Muse, MGMT, Dead Weather, Devo and a reunited Faith No More. But, unless you're married to the headliner, don't bother coming -- the festival is completely sold out.

Jay-Z is a great singer and a good person, I love his songs and how he brings in other people and makes it not just about himself. In fact he and Eminem will be teaming up this summer to play at the two stadiums in their home towns: http://bit.ly/cuPgdw
