Faith No More 'Feels So Good' at Coachella

Coachella has this way of reuniting bands, either directly or indirectly. And while the festival alone wasn't necessarily the impetus for Faith No More recently regrouping, they chose their late-day main stage set on Saturday to fully mark their grand reopening (at least in the U.S. -- Europe already got a taste). Before their set even began, they built anticipation by flashing "Faith No More: Second Coming" on the video screens. Then, when they actually did take the stage, against a theatrical red curtain backdrop -- with frontman Mike Patton wearing a matching zoot suit -- they nonchalantly sank into a cover of Peaches and Herb's 'Reunited' with its mondo appropriate chorus, "Reunited and it feels so good." More than one band could've opened with that number at Coachella this year (Pavement, Devo, Public Image Limited), but Faith No More was the only one of them that could've juxtaposed that song's natural swing with hard-hitting, mosh-inducing hits such as 'Out of Nowhere,' 'We Care a Lot,' and...of course...'Epic.' Faith No More are back and, yes, it does feel so good.
Coachella 2010 concludes today with a much anticipated set by a reunited Pavement, as well as the return of Sly Stone...sans his Family Stone band. Not everyone reunites but Coachella 2010 is certainly hurtling headfirst into a happy ending.
