PJ Harvey Performs New Song in Front of UK Prime Minister

PJ Harvey has been in the lab working on a new untitled record and who gets to hear the early work? Why, UK's Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Harvey took to the BBC's 'The Andrew Marr Show' -- a Sunday morning political talk show similar to 'Meet the Press' in the US -- this week, and performed 'Let England Shake,' which she premiered at Camp Bestival last summer.Harvey strums the autoharp throughout the track, which is built over a sample of 'Istanbul (Not Constantinople)' by Four Lads. There's no word yet on the Brown's thoughts, but we're guessing his mind might just be a little blown.
Harvey also sat down with host Andrew Marr for a quick interview. "I've always felt that my biggest fear would be to just replicate something I've done before because I know I can do it and it feels safe," she told the host. "I almost purposefully force myself into a different set of rules that I apply before I make the next record." She apparently has three custom autoharps tuned to different chord sets and has written nearly half of her new album on the instrument.
