M.I.A.'s upcoming third album is set to be released on June 29, according to a semi-cryptic ticker tape advertisement carried on a blimp during Jay-Z's set at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on Friday, April 16.The advertising airship at the California festival carried the message, "New album 6.29.10," after a plug for the outspoken artist's headline appearances at the dual site HARD one-day festivals, which are set to take place in Los Angeles on July 17 and in New York on July 24.
The as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2007's highly acclaimed 'Kala,' is also scheduled for release in Japan one week earlier, on June 23, according to Sony Japan.
The record is said to feature contributions from M.I.A.'s own N.E.E.T record label artists, including new signings Blaqstarr, Sleigh Bells and Baltimore rapper Rye Rye.
Grammy-nominated artist M.I.A. spent most of last year working on her third album, stopping touring to raise her first child who was born just days after she performed live the 2009 Grammy Awards ceremony in LA.
Sony and M.I.A. have yet to officially confirm the album's release date.
