Aside from her recent performance for UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, it's been relatively quiet on the PJ Harvey front as of late. At this point, any news is going to be good news, and we're happy to report that she's set to return this summer. Sadly, it's not with a new record, but it still sounds like a great gig for her, nonetheless. In a newsletter to Polly Jean's fans, she's announced that she'll be designing the summer 2010 issue of Zoetrope: All Story, Francis Ford Coppola's uber-hip literary quarterly. While she probably won't be contributing any written work, she does say the issue will feature never-before-seen artwork, sculptures and drawings. Harvey joins a rather small cast of musicians who've been bestowed this design honor, such as Tom Waits, Will Oldham, David Bowie, David Byrne and Lou Reed -- not a bad group of folks to be associated with.
Harvey's latest release was last year's 'A Woman A Man Walked By', a collaboration with John Parish that she only contributed lyrics and vocals as opposed to writing the music. 2007's highly underrated 'White Chalk' was her last studio effort that had new music, but reports have slowly been trickling out over the last year that she is indeed up to more studio work. Until then, we'll have to make do with some pretty pictures.
