As the mastermind behind the Strokes, Julian Casablancas captured the zeitgeist of the early 2000s and helped define a generation of hip guitar-based bands who worshipped at the altar of the Velvet Underground while bringing the sonic grit of Television to the masses.Three albums and nearly ten years later, Casablancas retains that same aloof charm he displayed in the Strokes' heyday. Having recently released his first solo album, the electro and country-infused 'Phrazes for the Young,' and with the Strokes reuniting for album number four and a short tour of summer festivals, the singer is looking ahead to another busy decade.
During a recent stop at Toronto's Kool Haus, Casablancas sat down with Spinner in the club's "outdoor anime lounge" to discuss life lessons, country music, and how it felt meeting his personal idol, Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. Check out the exclusive video interview after the jump.
