Webby Awards Honor Best Music Sites

There's something for everyone on the Internet these days, but some things in particular appeal to everyone. From viral videos like the Muppets performing 'Bohemian Rhapsody' to a website where you can watch an auto-tuned version of the news, the 'net is open for business 24-7 with an endless array of things for us to do when we probably should be working. This isn't exactly a new phenomenon, but the sheer number of cool things to get lost in online has been steadily and dramatically increasing. As it has for the past 14 years, the Webby Awards aim to spotlight the very best of the best, and Spinner.com's AOL mothership is playing host to Webbys voting.
With categories all over the map, literally and figuratively, there are a few music-related categories of particular interest. The 'Celebrity/Fan' category, for example, has U2 competing with DJ Shadow, while the 'Music (Online Film & Video)' category has Daryl Hall's web series 'Live From Daryl's House' going up against $99 Music Videos and the aforementioned Muppets video.
In the simple, straight-up category of 'Music,' music mainstay Pitchfork is pitted against Pandora, NPR Music, "paint a song" site Labuat and the experimental YouTube Symphony Orchestra.
Voting is currently underway and, in the open-sourced spirit of cyberspace, you can make your opinion count in the People's Voice Award. Go there now and rock the vote. Then feel free to go back to procrastinating on Chatroulette, or whatever.
