The 'mods against rockers' battle in the UK album charts has finally been decided -- and has been won by AC/DC, despite Paul Weller enjoying pole-position in the mid-weeks.As previously reported by Spinner, Weller's 'Wake Up the Nation' was primed for top spot after AC/DC's 'Iron Man 2' lingered in second place on Wednesday, following both albums' release on April 19.
But the unveiling of the charts last night, April 25, revealed the Australian rockers pipped the "Modfather" to the post, claiming their third UK chart-topping album.
Angus Young and his cohorts knocked rapper Plan B's 'The Defamation of Strickland Banks' from the top spot.
'Iron Man 2' is a greatest hits of sorts, compiling tracks from AC/DC's back catalogue of albums, from 1975's 'T.N.T.' through to their previous No. 1, 2008's 'Black Ice.' It soundtracks the Hollywood blockbuster of the same name, which stars the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson, and opens on April 30 in the UK.
