Empire of the Sun Unveil First-Ever North American Tour Dates

Empire of the Sun will work on their empire expansion when they land on North American soil for a few live dates this summer. But don't blink twice -- the engagements are more like a sting operation than a full-on invasion. The electro-psychedelic project, fronted by Emperor Luke Steele, will perform just three headlining shows in Toronto, New York and Los Angeles, in addition to a festival performance at Lollapalooza, all this August.

While the Empire is tight-lipped about what to expect on this particular front, Lollapalooza's website promises that Empire of the Sun will bring their "full live band" to the festival. When Spinner talked to Emperor Steele himself last fall, he said that the band's live shows were always going to be bombastic and theatrical. "I've kind of designed the show as a movie," he said. "There's narration and there's a lot of dance, and so it kind of takes you on a journey."

Now Spinner can exclusively reveal that Emperor of the Sun's North American headlining dates are as follows: Sound Academy in Toronto (Aug. 8), Terminal 5 in New York (Aug. 9) and the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles (Aug. 11). Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 30 for Toronto and New York, while Los Angeles goes on sale Saturday, May 1.
