Green Day Kicking Off Rolling Stones Week on 'Fallon'

It sure is great to be Green Day at the moment. After the Broadway adaptation of 'American Idiot' opened recently, the band has now been confirmed -- via Roots drummer ?uestlove's Twitter -- to kick off the 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' ode to the Rolling Stones' 'Exile on Main Street' on May 10. They join country star Keith Urban, Sheryl Crow and jam kings Phish, who each will play a different song from the album throughout the week. According to Billboard, the Friday, May 14 show will be sans musical guest and instead show excerpts from a new Stones documentary called 'Stones in Exile.' As Rolling Stone reported, this news comes after the trio played two tiny club shows in Manhattan as their alter-egos, Foxboro Hot Tubs. Barring any other small-time appearances, the 'Fallon' gig will serve as a precursor to Green Day's massive summer tour, set to launch on May 29 at the Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands. They'll be in Europe through July 4, playing mostly festivals and stadiums, including London's massive Wembley Stadium on June 19. After that, they'll return stateside for an amphitheatre tour starting on Aug. 3 at Camden, N.J.'s Susquehanna Bank Center.
There's still no word on what song Green Day will perform on 'Fallon' but our vote is for 'Rip This Joint,' only because we can totally see Billie Joe singing "Wham, Bam, Birmingham, Alabam' don't give a damn" with Jagger-like passion.
