Benni Hemm Hemm, 'Retaliate' -- Video Premiere

Although their live shows have been known to incorporate up to 35 performers at once, Icelandic indie pop collective Benni Hemm Hemm strips things down on 'Retaliate,' the title track from their just-released EP. Frontman Benedikt H. Hermannsson employed artists Michael Kirkham and Vivien McDermid to provide visual accompaniment to the hushed acoustic folk tune, with stunning results.

Among the video's most striking aspects are the seamless transitions -- beginning with our first glimpse of a man floating down a black river, the viewer is transported through animated scenes of quiet poignancy, hand-drawn by the Scottish duo. Visual metaphors abound -- an unwritten book, a nighttime vampire visit, a city in flames -- before coming full circle at the clip's end.
