Killers Singer Brandon Flowers to Release Solo Debut, 'Flamingo'

We've got some killer news for Killers fans: frontman Brandon Flowers is releasing a solo album entitled 'Flamingo.' No word, yet, about a release date or, for that matter, the title's meaning but, hey, at least Flowers isn't going to disappear and ponder the last few years of success and stardom while sipping umbrella drinks on an island somewhere. Not that he ever threatened to do that, exactly, but it at least seemed possible ever since it was announced that the Killers were going on hiatus this year. In February, they were forced to cancel a number of international dates due to the "severe illness" of a close family member. Flowers' mom passed away on February 11.
A day earlier, the band issued a statement on their website that reads, in part, "The Killers would also like to take this opportunity to assure their fans that any concerns about the future of the band are unfounded. They are all looking forward to some time off at the end of this tour, as they have been on the road for a long time, but there are no plans for an indefinite hiatus."
So the band officially denies that this hiatus is anything more than that: it's a break, not a break-up. For those keeping score, Flowers also denied that he was leaving the group to pursue a solo career, via a message from the band's record label last December. That said, his solo debut is currently being advertised on the Killers' official website.
In the meantime, NME.com reports that Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci has formed an all-star side-project with members of Keane, Noah and the Whale and Mumford and Sons, under the moniker Mt. Desolation. As for the rest of the band...umbrella drinks in the tropics?
