Love Tips McAvoy or Gosling to Play Cobain

The upcoming Kurt Cobain biopic is sure to spark much heated debate among music fans, not least over the vexed question of who should portray the late grunge hero. Well, it seems that one conundrum might be approaching a resolution at least, since Courtney Love -- who just happens to be co-producing the film -- has nailed her colours to the mast regarding who she wants to play her much-missed husband. The Hole frontwoman told the hosts of US TV's 'The View' that she would prefer Ryan Gosling or Britain's own James McAvoy to step into the iconic cardigan, although she didn't mention whether she will get the final say -- or even any input at all -- in the casting decision.
'Atonement' and 'Last King of Scotland' star McAvoy is apparently a particular favourite of Love's, on account of his looking like if "Edward Norton and Kurt had a baby," at least according to the singer.
Despite her quite specific casting requirements, and her co-producer credit, Love said she's not likely to watch the finished flick, which is being directed by Israeli screenwriter Oren Moverman from a script inspired by Charles R. Cross' 2002 biography 'Heavier Than Heaven.' The experience, she said, would be too painful.
The as-yet-untitled project is reported to be a joint venture from Universal Pictures and Working Title Films.
