Red Hot Chili Peppers May Get Their Own 'Guitar Hero'

With Chad Smith rapping with Dick Van Dyke, John Frusciante quitting and Flea touring with Thom Yorke, Red Hot Chili Peppers fans may be feeling rather unfulfilled as of late. But that could all change soon, as Kotaku reports on rumors that Activision, the makers of the 'Guitar Hero' line of games, is gathering data on whether or not a version of the game that features just the L.A. band would be desired. Not only would the Chili Peppers join other luminary figures such as the Beatles, Van Halen and Aerosmith in getting their own simulated rock band game, it certainly could be some parent's dream to hear their son or daughter yell "suck my kiss" in the hopes of getting a high score on a video game.
But seriously, this could be the exact thing the Chili Peppers need to regenerate interest in their earlier work. They scored several hits in the early '90s with 'Suck My Kiss,' 'Give It Away' and "'Under the Bridge' and continued that trend with the title track from 1999's 'Californication' and the song 'Scar Tissue.'
Meanwhile, the band is currently working on a new album and Kotaku says that the survey indicates that tracks from this new album, plus 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik,' 'Californication' and 2002's 'By the Way' would be included.
In 2008, 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' was released for 'Guitar Hero' competitor 'Rock Band' as a full album download, and over the years, various incarnations of 'Guitar Hero' games have featured a Chili Peppers song here and there, but this new game would incorporate unlockable interviews, retrospectives and concert footage. We assume they'll leave drug addiction scenes "under the bridge downtown."
