Jason Bonham Prepares Led Zeppelin Tribute Tour
- Posted on May 4th 2010 7:00AM by Barnaby Smith
Jason Bonham, son of deceased Led Zeppelin drummer John, is planning an audacious 30-date tour revisiting the songs of his father's band, accompanied by family photos, home movies and music from an as-yet unspecified tribute band.In the wake of the latest rumours of a Led Zeppelin reunion being quashed, Bonham Jr looks set to get his own project on the road. This is more than just a cashing in on his father's memory -- the drummer filled in for his father for the band's 2007 reunion concert at the O2 Arena.
Bonham told Blabbermouth, "I have always loved playing the music of Led Zeppelin and after such a great night back in 2007 at the O2 Arena, I took an opportunity to [begin work on] a very special show which would look at my life with the music of Led Zeppelin.
"Old photos, home movies and videos would help take you on a journey into my life from my earliest memories right up the O2 show."
Bonham also said that the North American tour would be designed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of his father's death, in September of this year.
The 43-year-old drummer has been among the loudest voices calling for a Led Zeppelin reunion tour, meeting consistent resistance to the idea from Robert Plant.

You rock on Jason. You make your papa proud. It is very hard to understand why Plant refuses to do a Zepplin tour. I do understand the guilt he must have lived with all these years over your fathers death, but what better way to honor the Great Bonzo Bonham than with a Led Zep tour featuring his son on drums. Even if plant doesn't get that, you do and kudos for carrying on, wishing you much success on the tour and if your papa pays you any visits, let me know, k?

I have several of there biographies, all of there CD's, multiple DVD's of them in concert and about there journey! If Robert Plant could come to the Providence area, I guarantee he would make many of his fans very happy:) Led Zepplins music will NEVER GO AWAY! I also very much enjoy Robert as a solo artist! Can you imagine being able to meet and hang out with him? Yes, I can dream that!

Jason, I respect what you are doing and I will love to come and see you. I read the book Led Zeppelin ,the stories behind every Led Zeppelin song by Chris Welch and I have a whole new respect for Robert,Jimmy, John and your dad. I love that book so much, I purchased it on Amazon. I knwo and understand why Robert will not join and after reading that book, I understand and will respect his wishes. I wish you the best, and cannot wait to see your tribute to your dad. I am 49 and have lived through all of Led Zeppelin and love the fact that you are doing this. I cannot believe it has been 30 years. God bless you. Sue Bewley Mazzone
