If you really like Juliana Hatfield's songwriting on her last album, love to patronize an artist directly and have some semi-serious cash in your coffers, then she might have just the offer for you. Hatfield is claiming on her website that a measly $1000 gets you a personalized song -- for a lifetime of bragging to your other songwriter-savvy friends, that's not such a bad deal. "For the price of $1,000, I will write an original song tailor-made just for you, to you and about you, and I will record it in the mostly acoustic style of my newest album, 'Peace and Love,'" she wrote.
Here's how it works: You place an order and then send her a message with all your gory personal details such as hobbies, problems, crushes and what you do for a living. After reviewing the information, Hatfield promises to create an original song around your life and send you a numbered and painted CD through the mail within three months of the order.
For those looking for a cheaper option but still wanting a slice of the action, a $10 donation will enter you in a lottery for the same deal. Hatfield will choose at least one winner from the lottery, and either way, you can sleep extra well tonight knowing you made a donation to a legitimate working artist. There's only room for 20 songs total, so act fast!
While Hatfield will maintain full copyright on the tracks, she intends for each song to remain a secret to its subject and will not be releasing this work for public consumption.
