Tiësto and BLK JKS' Worlds Collide on New Track

The pulse-pounding electronica of superstar DJ Tiësto doesn't usually belong in the same playlist as the experimental prog-rock of South African upstarts BLK JKS, much less in the same song. However, the two artists have collaborated on a track for Smirnoff Experience South Africa's "Mashup Street" event, and the dissimilar sounds have come together pretty spectacularly.

'Dreaming,' which will be premiered live at the "Mashup Street" concert in Johannesburg on May 15, features BLK JKS' haunting vocals over a sumptuous Tiësto beat. Although Tiësto has worked with everyone from Tegan and Sara to Three 6 Mafia, the Dutch DJ/producer felt a particularly strong connection with BLK JKS when event sponsor Smirnoff approached him with the collaboration.

"I'm really drawn to the way their music reflects their South African roots but is completely unique to anything I've ever worked with," Tiësto tells Spinner. "For the track, my goal was to highlight the best elements of our individual styles while creating a sound of its own."

Currently in the middle of a global arena tour in support of his latest dance-floor opus, 'Kaleidoscope,' Tiësto will be headlining the South Africa "Mashup Street," which follows Smirnoff Experience events in New York and Moscow. The show will be streamed live on Smirnoff's Facebook page.
