Billy Corgan has shown his affinity for female bassists once again. This time, the Smashing Pumpkins mastermind as tapped Nicole Fiorentino to join his band. According to Consequence of Sound, Fiorentino replaces Ginger Pooley, who exited the Pumpkins in March.Fiorentino follows in the footsteps of original member D'arcy and her successor, Melissa Auf der Maur. Putting Billy's gender preferences aside, Fiorentino has an impressive musical history, including time served in Brody Dalle's Spinnerette, Louise Post's incarnation of Veruca Salt, plus outfits like Twilight Sleep, Radio Vago and Light FM.
"[Nicole] is keeping herself very busy these days in the studio with Billy and the rest of the Pumpkins crew," reads a post on her MySpace page. "She will also be performing live with band for any future tours/gigs."
