Brandon Flowers Dueting With Jenny Lewis on Upcoming Solo Record

Details surrounding Brandon Flowers' debut solo record, 'Flamingo,' might be few and far between, but the Killers frontman has finally let a few tasty morsels of information slip. Aside from teaming up with 'Day & Age' producer Stuart Price, Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen) and Daniel Lanois, who recently worked with Neil Young, Flowers has collaborated with Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley. Lewis worked on a few songs with Flowers, including a duet called 'Hard Enough.'
"She's always popped into my mind whenever I think about getting a female vocalist involved because she's a fellow child of Las Vegas, too," Flowers told the print version of NME, as ONTD reports. "A lot of people don't realize that, but she was actually born there, in the same hospital as Ronnie Vannucci Jr, only a few weeks apart!"
Flowers admitted that some of the tracks on the album were intended for a new Killers record, but with the band on hiatus, he didn't want to let those tracks go to waste. "To be honest, I personally would prefer it if this was a Killers record," he said. "Some of these songs were originally destined to be Killers songs, but it is what it is. I certainly never sat around dreaming of going out on my own, but singing songs and writing songs, it's kind of what I do, you know? And I just don't want to stop right now."
While a Killers comeback still isn't planned, Flowers believes going solo for a while will give the band some time to regroup. "I see this as something that will only make the Killers stronger," Flowers said. "I feel like I'm getting something out of my system with this album, but I want the next Killers album to be a wonderful collaboration between four guys who are ready to make the best record that they possibly can."
'Flamingo' is scheduled to release in the fall.
