Bruce Springsteen Covers Bryan Adams at Sting's Rain Forest Concert
- Posted on May 14th 2010 11:00AM by John D. Luerssen
Bruce Springsteen surprised attendees of Thursday night's all-star Rain Forest concert by showing up to perform a unique rendition of Bryan Adams' 1983 hit 'Cuts Like a Knife.' According to the New York Daily News, Springsteen delivered a "gut renovation" of the song, turning it from "a toy-rock bauble into a Solomon Burke-like slice of soul." Bruce also delivered a solo take on his own classic 'Dancing in the Dark.'Elton John, Lady Gaga, Blondie's Debbie Harry, Mary J. Blige, Shirley Bassey and Chic's Nile Rodgers rounded out Sting and wife Trudy Styler's 21st annual Carnegie Hall fundraising event. The on-again, off-again Police frontman's solo take on 'An Englishman in New York' got the night underway, and later in the show Sting performed the Fine Young Cannibals' 1989 No. 1 'She Drives Me Crazy.'
Other highlights included Gaga's piano-steered version of the timeless pop song 'Stand by Me,' and her collaboration with Elton John on a hybrid of 'Speechless' and 'Your Song.' Sir Elton returned to the stage to pay tribute to Madonna with performances of 'Material Girl' and 'Like a Virgin.'
Closing out the evening, the entire cast delivered a rendition of Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin'.'

I use to really like Springsteen, and then he brought politics into his concerts. I am willing to pay big money to be entertained, but not to hear someones political ramblings...I can get that for free on Sunday morning talking head shows. Just shut up and sing.

Bryan Adams version is a classic. It was a big time played hit then, and it still gets a lot of air time now.
Despite your "love" for liberal "can do no wrong Bruce" I doubt he could improve on the original.
Are those two women on the right side of AOLâs home page under My Networks, the ones that played "Battlesh*ts" in the 1st Harold and Kumar movie?
