David Lee Roth Named in Bizarre Divorce Case

They may call him Diamond Dave, but David Lee Roth has always been averse to wedding rings. If the bizarre testimony of a woman in Allentown, Pa., were true, we could see why. For four years, 51-year-old Jo Ann Fonzone has been pursuing a divorce settlement in Allentown courts, claiming she was once married to the on-again, off-again Van Halen singer. She claims she met a man named Cary Woods while attending New York University in 1979 and married him in 1983. Ten years later, she says, she found out that Woods was actually the world-famous rocker Roth.
"He's the master of disguise," she recently told her hometown newspaper.
It gets weirder. Roth, she claims, was abusive and bilked her for a $50 million line of credit. As it turns out, Fonzone has sued celebrities before, including one actually named Cary Woods, a Hollywood producer.
Elaine Schock, Roth's publicist, told the Morning Call that Fonzone's allegations are "as false as you can get." Roth, meanwhile, hasn't commented -- presumably, he ain't talkin' 'bout love.

Running a law office is a business. No business stays open taking cases like this woman's. Any lawyers that do usually find themselves out of business, or better, without a license at all.
Most frivolous cases are filed by pro se (represetning themselves) litigants. Attorneys can face sanctions for filing frivolous lawsuits, to include suspension and disbarment, not to mention the civil liability they take on.
Attorneys do suck, but the frivolous lawsuit bs is an insurance industry smokescreen to try and make legitimate suits seems frivolous. Folla the dolla..

The Judge should send her a letter. Tell her not to persue this, not waste the court's time and to seek help. If she gets a trial I hope they "Judge Judy" her ass.

I wonder how she could NOT know he was David Lee Roth. Van Halen was one of the top rock groups in the early 1980's and traveled all over the world, they had videos. David Lee did a solo album and had videos, he was everywhere. You had to be living in a cave to not know who he was.
