Liam Gallagher has announced he is not planning on a career in filmmaking, despite launching his new Beatles project in Cannes. The former Oasis frontman, who already boasts his own fashion label, has now set up a production company -- In 1 -- for what he promises will be his one and only venture into the film world.
As reported in Spinner, Gallagher aims to make a biopic based on 'The Longest Cocktail Party,' a memoir that focuses on the wildly varied fortunes of Apple, the Beatles' record company, between 1968 and 1970. Its author Richard DiLello was an employee for the label.
At the French film festival, Gallagher told the NME the memoir held "biblical" meaning for his old band, while speaking alongside collaborator Andrew Eaton of Revolution Films, the UK company behind Michael Winterbottom's Madchester celebration '24 Hour Party People.'
"I'm not going into films, this is the last thing for me," he said. "I mean I'm not going to get sucked into that. I'm going to do this one thing because I like it, and I've got the opportunity to do it, and Andrew's going to make it happen, and that's it." The singer denied he would make an appearance in the movie, because he added, "I'm too good looking."
