Liam Gallagher has confirmed that his new, as-yet-unnamed band will write and perform the soundtrack to the singer's forthcoming Apple Records biopic. The former Oasis singer was speaking to the Guardian at the Cannes film festival about why he had chosen not to use the Beatles in the soundtrack saying, "We're gonna do it -- my new band's going to do the soundtrack. We can recreate that sound like that, you know what I mean? I think it will be more exciting if you have a sound that reminds you of that era, instead of the obvious, going, 'Oh, there's 'Let It Be.'"
Gallagher was at pains to stress that the film is not out the Beatles but about what went on behind the scenes at their Apple Corps multi-media. The script is based on former Apple Corps employee Richard DiLello 1972 memoir, 'The Longest Cocktail Party: An Insider's Diary of the Beatles, Their Million Dollar Apple Empire and Its Wild Rise and Fall.'
He added, "It ain't just about the Beatles. That's what we've gotta get across -- it's about Apple Records."
Gallagher further confirmed that he no intention of making any other films. "I'm doing this one thing and that is it, I'm back on the dole," he quipped.
