Rodrigo y Gabriela Rock White House State Dinner

Mexican acoustic-thrash duo Rodrigo y Gabriela gave the Obamas a taste of their guitar wizardry earlier this week when they were invited to play the second state dinner hosted by the President. They joined Obama favorite Beyonce and performed in front of Mexican President Felipe Hinojosa and the First Lady of Mexico Margarita Zavala on Wednesday.

For the 200 or so that were invited, the occasion was a treat as the band's popularity has exploded over the last few years to the point where they can now sell out Radio City Music Hall. But let's face it: any band that takes Metallica songs and converts them into acoustic wonders with just two guitars has an obvious appeal.

The duo is currently supporting 2009's '11:11' and are hitting the road later this summer, starting Aug. 13 at Redmond, Wa.'s Marymoor Amphitheater.
