Bee Gees' Robin Gibb Throws Tantrum at Heathrow Airport

Robin GibbThough he has no problem 'Stayin' Alive,' apparently Robin Gibb can't seem to stay calm when going through airport security. As AOL News reports, the Bee Gees member reportedly lost his marbles at London's Heathrow Airport last weekend after he arrived for a departing British Airways flight to Los Angeles.

According to the Sun, a witness claims the 60-year-old 'Jive Talkin'' singer "went absolutely crazy and was swearing his head off at the check-in team." Gibb evidently objected to being randomly selected for a pat down search, which is part of the airline's security initiative. He ultimately chose not to board the plane.

"It wasn't their fault -- people are selected at random by the computer for extra checks," the witness explained. "But he wasn't having any of it. He was told by security to calm down or he would not be able to fly. He told them to eff off."

In accordance with its policy, British Airways did not confirm Gibb by name. However a spokesman did tell the newspaper, "A customer due to travel to Los Angeles refused to be subject to secondary searches at the gate and chose not to travel. BA is obliged to conduct searches by the US authorities."

OMG, Robin looks like he is near death...I hope they can find a cure for whatever it is that is wrong with him. He and his brothers have brought us so much wonderful music through the years... Get well Robin, we need you back.
As far as the pat down at the airport, he probably didn't want them to touch him in sensitive places since he has the intestinal problems. I'm sure he was in a lot of discomfort and then to subject him to this was just too much for him to handle. I'm sure the security knew exactly who he was (can't miss him) and just wanted to be near a celebrity...Just leave the poor man alone!!!

Why shouldn't he be upset? He has a home in Miami, a business in the United States and he was flying here to appear on American Idol. For, At least the last 30 years, he has been flying back and forth. Why would he do something now. While they were busy checking him six more terrorist got on the plane.

Our government should be more concerned about the less known people because it is obvious that they can get past security checks.

I think he had every right to get mad. they knew who he was and knew there was no threat.

Well, I think we have all had a momemt or two when we lose it, for good reason or not. Just because he is famous, he is still a human and has the right to have a bad day once in awhile. And without knowing both sides of the story, I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt given the attitude of many (not all but many) people in authority!

Perhaps he should have chartered a private plane at an alternate airport.

If you read the article, the US is the ones who force the search. They brought it on to themselves by sticking their noses into everyone elses business. Everyone needs to be searched now and ....... DOES IT WORK? You decide

Does Gibb look like a Middle Eastern man? Does he speak like a Middle Eastern man? Does he in even the remotest way look like the people who blow up other people? Why then was he being searched? Don't give me the random selection guff. We all know who should be being searched but we daren't offend them by doing so. I guess we shouldn't be offended that not only do we know who blows up other people but those 'other people ' are the ones who have to be searched.
