Liam Gallagher Reveals Name of New Band

Liam Gallagher has revealed that the name of his new band is to be Beady Eye. As previously reported on Spinner, the ex-Oasis singer has also recruited his former bandmates -- guitarists Gem Archer and Andy Bell and drummer Chris Sharrock -- for the group.

The band have also hired the services of Steve Lillywhite to produce their as-yet-untitled debut album. The famed producer has worked with the likes of U2, Morrissey and the Rolling Stones in the past.

In an interview with free UK magazine Shortlist, Gallagher said that the first single from Beady Eye's new album is expected to be released in October, with gigs happening around then in support of the record.

Music isn't the only thing on Gallagher's mind, though. He recently announced that he will help produce a Beatles biopic -- although he went some way to distance himself from a career in filmmaking.

His brother and ex-Oasis bandmate Noel Gallagher, however, has been keeping more of a low profile since the breakup of Oasis in August 2009, and has only reared his head now and again to play with Paul Weller onstage in London and to publicly give his backing to England's bid to host the World Cup 2018.
